Statement from Iowa State head football coach Paul Rhoads:

“I have indefinitely suspended Kurt Hammerschmidt from our football program for a violation of team rules.”

Coach Rhoads will have no further comment on this issue.

AMES, Iowa - Iowa State’s returning NCAA 197-pound champion, Jake Varner, is embarking on his trip to the World Wrestling Championships in Herning, Denmark. The World Wrestling Championships are being held Sept. 21-23. Varner, a senior Iowa Stater, is the U.S. representative in the 96-kg (211.5-pound) division.

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State fans will have 19 opportunities to see the Cyclone women’s basketball team, fresh off an NCAA Elite Eight appearance, play at Hilton Coliseum in 2009-10. The Cyclone home slate will include games vs. Iowa, UNI and 2009 Final Four participant Oklahoma.
